About Our Cabin
New, two storey, compact (approximately 400 sq. ft.) cabin located in what was once old Acadia, the property was first settled in the early 1700's, featuring remnants of an ancient rock wall almost hidden on the north side. The land boasts a diverse array of trees, from aged apple and evergreens to youthful saplings. During construction, the area required extensive clearing of decaying trees to protect the live ones from the fierce, southwest winds which blow in from the Atlantic during the winter months. Abandoned since at least the 1950's, the property retains an untamed allure, contributing to its natural charm. The tiny home offers all modern comforts in a snug package, including a Ninja Convection Oven, microwave, toaster, Keurig 2 coffee maker, a bespoke shower, as well as a stackable washer/dryer combo. The lower deck showcases a live-edged bar while the upper deck, accessible from the bedroom with its king-sized bed, affords breathtaking sunset views and a front-row seat to the bustling sea life. New for this year, we’ve added a detached sunroom, complete with wifi, tv and it’s own spectacular views.
Things To Do In The Area
This property is within walking distance of Smuggler's Cove Provincial Park (approximately 500 metres) and the Sip Cafe (less then a kilometre). There are numerous restaurants, fish markets and shops within a couple of minutes of driving in Meteghan and the connecting towns. There are numerous sandy beaches close by and spots to go clam digging at low tide. The entire area abounds with the rich, Acadian flavour in the various festivals throughout the summer months. The vibrant city of Yarmouth with the all the services and attractions of a much larger city is located about 25 minutes away, with its scheduled service to Maine in the U.S.A. Digby, located just over a half hour away in the other direction, is another city with its own distinctive flair and fun to explore. Further along is the Digby neck with all it's whale watching services. The entire southwest corner of Nova Scotia, with it's rich history is easily explorable, with much to be discovered within an hour's drive.
